Un•earth

Un•earth

An exhibition of new work by Sandra Menefee Taylor.

Un•earth continues Taylor’s contemplation of land and how we regard it as we enter the Anthropocene Era, asking us to reconsider the cultural values assigned to materials such as dirt and lace. Iconic forms by 19th-century painter Jean-Francois Millet remind us that those judgments transfer also to the people associated with those materials, hardening class divisions and dismissing a most essential truth:

“Soil is the one thing we have in common.” --Wendell Berry
