Part variety show, part dance party, and part salon, the Bienvenidos Dystopia showcase of arts and culture this year takes place in the beautiful Museum of Russian Art. Set among the current exhibition Posters of the Soviet Era, the live event features rapid fire presentations from artists across disciplines, including visual art, music, performance, poetry and more! The year is 2026 ... The United States starts to slide into social collapse. After years of power grabs, oligarchs have successfully staged a bloodless coup and begin their work to finalize the republic into a corporate state. With the world’s climate on the brink of collapse, the country experiences ‘once in a lifetime’ weather catastrophes several times a year. Rapidly advancing technologies erode personal privacy and freedoms, algorithms and AI grow more invasive and influential in day-to-day life. The graphic realities of an international U.S.-backed genocides undercut domestic state and media propaganda. Domestically, the sick cannot afford skyrocketing drug prices or medical costs, while an epidemic of gun violence sweeps the country and mass shootings against schools and civilians become routine while police kill record numbers of citizens. The sun is shining. People continue to make their art. Celebrate Minneapolis Arts & Culture before it's all gone.

Join us for the very first 38th+CHI Art Crawl during our monthly Open HeARTh on Friday, August 21, from 5:00–7:00 PM!

Explore our current exhibition, A Cage so Light [you hardly feel it], a solo exhibition by Samael Leopold-Sullivan. From 5:30-6:30pm, you'll have the opportunity to watch the artist demonstrate the encaustic photo transfer process.

The shop will also be bustling with a spoon forging workshop in preparation for the upcoming Bowls and Spoons Harvest Feast from 4-7pm. Feel free to walk the shop and see where your local fire arts artists make their work! Maybe it’ll inspire you to make some work of your own!!

The Minnesota State Fair, in partnership with Forecast Public Art and the Minnesota State Fair Foundation, presents the 2026 Joyful World Mural Park. Now in its fifth year, this initiative transforms a green space on the fairgrounds into a vibrant hub for public art. Visitors are invited to watch artists work in real-time, engaging with the creative process as four new large-scale murals are produced on-site.

The 2026 featured muralists include Destiny (Dez) Noel Bilges, Discover Dope Creative, Philli Irvin, and Reggie LeFlore. These artists were selected through a competitive open call to interpret the theme of a "Joyful World," exploring concepts of connection, community, and imagination through their unique visual languages. Their new works will join a collection of murals from previous years that remain a seasonal attraction on the fairgrounds.

The Joyful World Mural Park offers fairgoers a moment of reflection and artistic immersion amidst the excitement of the Great Minnesota Get-Together. The project celebrates the live art form of mural painting and highlights the diverse narratives and styles within the regional arts community.

Featured Artists:
Destiny (Dez) Noel Bilges: A queer, multidisciplinary artist and educator of indigenous and settler heritage whose work delves into vulnerability and community.

Discover Dope Creative: A multidisciplinary studio that views story as infrastructure, creating work at the intersection of culture and identity.

Philli Irvin (Philosx3): A North Minneapolis-based social practice artist focused on participatory and community-centered experiences.

Reggie LeFlore: A visual artist whose portraiture-based work captures the diverse narratives of contemporary society.

For more than 25 years, American Pottery Festival (APF) has brought together nationally recognized ceramic artists, collectors, students, and clay enthusiasts for a weekend celebrating the best of contemporary ceramics.

Omnira presents Actus Fabulae, a variety show and night market featuring an evening of live music and performance alongside a local artists and crafters market. Hosted at Bumbling Fools Mead, the event features live music from Venus de Mars and all the Pretty Horses (glam rock), D Santos (Brazilian hip hop), Chick Singer (female-fronted rock and metal cover band), and Omnira (mixed genre/industrial).

In addition to the musical lineup, the night includes a range of variety acts such as poetry and burlesque. Attendees can browse the Night Market, which features handmade wares from local crafters, artists, and artisans. The event also includes face painting, tarot reading, and a costume contest. Bumbling Fools Mead specializes in hand crafting and serving traditional and clever meads. This is an all-ages event with a $5 cover charge.

Twin Cities Maker Fest is an annual, day-long celebration of all forms of making, art, and craft in the Twin Cities! This year's fest will occur on 31st Ave in Seward, between 26th St and 28th St.

Bring your family and join in Silverwood Park’s 17th annual FIELD TRIP Arts and Nature Festival taking place Saturday, September 12 from 12 to 4PM. Catch live outdoor music from artists Funk N Spuds and Yellow Ostrich, shop artwork from local artists with Minneapolis Craft Market, take part in guided art and nature activities with Silverwood educators, plus enjoy local food trucks, ice cream, and a beverage vendor. This outdoor event is free, for all ages, and you may drop-in anytime.

The Wakpá Triennial returns for its second installment in the fall of 2026, guided by the theme “A Moment to Pause.” This multi-site network of public space projects and installations invites artists and audiences to slow down and reconnect with the land, water, and communities that hold them. Co-curated by Dakota artist Angela Two Stars and shaped by an Indigenous Advisory Group, the festival honors the Mississippi River as a living cultural landscape and a sacred site.

Opening weekend features a monumental undertaking where fifty local artists will gather at the E 2nd Street wall to wheat-paste unique 4′ × 4′ posters directly onto the architectural canvas. This open-air gallery stretches from the Sibley Underpass to the Jackson Underpass, transforming the riverfront into a festive environment with live music and community engagement. These wheat-pasted works are intentionally ephemeral, designed to weather and fade over the course of the month to mirror the fleeting nature of the present moment.

Beyond the opening festivities, the Triennial includes a month of activation. On September 19 at Raspberry Island, the festival hosts a public reading of 187 poems from the Sidewalk Poetry contest, followed by a traditional Indigenous papermaking workshop. The 2026 Wakpa Triennial centers local artists and community participation, claiming public space as a place for beauty, reflection, and collective meaning-making during a significant moment in the national cultural conversation.

Watch live painting and enjoy free, family-friendly activities as the Chroma Zone Mural & Art Festival returns with 6+ new murals by local and national artists, and three days of events on September 17, 18, & 19. Meet the artists, learn their stories, check out a graffiti jam, tour the murals (80+ and counting) by bike or bus, and join a block party at Chroma Zone in the Creative Enterprise Zone neighborhood in Saint Paul.

NEMAA presents the 31st Annual Art-A-Whirl open studio weekend throughout Northeast Minneapolis

It's that time of year in Minneapolis and Art-A-Whirl is back and bigger than ever. Renowned for quality, variety and value, Art in the Park attracts thousands of regional patrons to Sylvan Park in Lanesboro each year.

The 45th annual Art in the Park fine art festival will be held in Lanesboro, Minnesota on Saturday, June 20th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Art in the Park 2026 will feature fine art booths, and family art activities amid mature shade trees in the beautiful setting of Sylvan Park. Art at St. Kate’s is one of the finest one-day outdoor art fairs in Saint Paul. It is located on the beautiful triangular green space at Cleveland and Randolph Avenues on the Saint Paul campus of St. Catherine University. It is presented by Artists’ Circle and Textile Center.

Art at St. Kate’s features quality work by 100 juried artists who create and sell fine crafts including clay, fiber, glass, leather, jewelry, metal, paper, wood, mixed media, as well as fine arts including painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. This art fair has everything from leather handbags, cloisonné pendants, and stained glass to hand-woven scarves, wood and copper birdhouses, woodcut prints, acrylic and oil paintings, collages, original cards, metal sculptures, quilts, hand-blown glass, hand-made paper, ceramic vases, plates, and mugs. Strolling musicians and food trucks are also part of the art fair. Free event. Free parking.

Groveland Gallery's 11th Annual Plein Air Smackdown is a great way to experience art in the wild as 40 plein air artists paint around our Minneapolis neighborhood. Painters will be at their easels from 10am-1pm and then display their works at Groveland Gallery 2pm-5pm. Enjoy the opportunity to visit with artists and watch them paint, then purchase their fresh paintings framed and displayed in the gallery. We'll serve lemonade and snacks on the Groveland Gallery porch overlooking the Walker Sculpture Garden. Groveland Gallery is presenting this year's event in collaboration with @Outdoor Painters of Minnesota.

Groveland Gallery is just up the hill from the Walker Art Center on Groveland Terrace, with easy off-street parking, additional street parking free on weekends, and a short walk from the Walker’s underground parking ramp.
