French Park presents Turtles Below, Martins Above, featuring the work by Greg Feinberg.
This exhibition of digital illustration explores the ecologies, behaviors, and habitats of soft-shell turtles and purple martins -- two distinctive species that inhabit the environs of French Park and Medicine Lake and now depend on human support to thrive. Though often overlooked, both species are uniquely charismatic and offer compelling stories worth discovering in Turtles Below, Martins Above.
Bio:
Greg’s art is a reflection of his interactions with and observations of the natural world. His work incorporates natural cycles, ecologies, diagrams and abstraction. The final result is an expressionist field guide or phenology text. His artwork is predominately digital illustration. Each work starts with a series of field observations that are recorded by rough sketches, notes and field guides. His ultimate goal is to invite people into a closer look and relationship with nature; that “nature” is here and now and is as ubiquitous in a pristine wilderness as it is in a weedy neighborhood alley.
