We'd love for you to join us for the opening of our next exhibition — a warm, luminous and inspiring body of work by Steve Smith, one of our own resident artists here at ArT @ 967 Payne.

Steve's story is a remarkable one. He's drawn since childhood, earned his BFA at the University of Minnesota, taught at the Indigenous-grounded Red School House, and spent a career weaving together art and healing as a clinical psychologist. But the deepest influence on his work is his mother — a strong, wise Indigenous woman who taught him to look, and to truly see: that all things are alive, all things are related, and the earth herself is sacred.

His paintings bring that vision to vivid life — owls, cranes, loons, dragonflies, and butterflies gathered in tender, radiant harmony. In many works, his mother appears as the Eagle. Alongside the paintings, you'll find a collection of his more introspective sketches and drawings, born of a remarkable daily drawing practice.

Come and meet Steve, experience the work, and spend an enriching and uplifting evening with us on the East Side.
