The Worlds We Live In | Will Raymond

The Worlds We Live In | Will Raymond

The Worlds We Live In is a bold and intimate exhibition by artist and activist Will Raymond, exploring identity, reclamation, and belonging

Blending ancestral memory with contemporary storytelling, the show explores Indigeneity, queerness, and identity through the eyes of a 22-year-old Two-Spirit Lakota and Anishinaabe artist. Featuring oil on canvas alongside stitched denim, salvaged fabrics, and personal artifacts, Raymond offers a striking meditation on visibility, resistance, and belonging.

The exhibition moves fluidly between tenderness and confrontation, asking bold questions about who belongs in the American narrative—and who’s been written out. “This isn’t a critique,” Raymond says of his work. “It’s a claim. America has been built off the backs of working-class people, and Native people are part of that.”

The show’s title, The Worlds We Live In, captures its essence: a weaving of multiple lived experiences—Two-Spirit, working class, queer, Native—and a call to reflect on how upbringing, environment, and identity shape the worlds we inhabit. “It’s an invitation and a mirror,” Raymond says. “Everyone deserves to see themselves represented. I want my people to feel seen. I also want others to sit with the discomfort and ask themselves what they truly stand for.”
