Passing by is a selection of paintings that came from imagining brief scenes of a post-civilization Midwest. The paintings show rewilded landscapes that still betray glimpses of human involvement. Instead of focusing on post-apocalyptic circumstances, these scenes concentrate on mundane everyday moments made exceptional by a changed world. Passing by asks viewers to contemplate the future of the planet and our existence.
This opening reception is in conjunction with In the Middle of Somewhere by Martin Gonzales.
