New Exhibitions at Praxis
An opening night reception 6–8PM on Saturday, July 18, 2026, celebrates the debut of two new exhibitions at Praxis Gallery & Photographic Arts Center in the Seward neighborhood of Minneapolis.
This event is free and open to the public. Guests are invited to mingle with artists and fellow photography enthusiasts while exploring four galleries of contemporary photographic art and enjoying complimentary refreshments. 24Minnesota artists are featured in group shows, along with artists from 19 other states and 7 foreign countries.
The exhibitions will be on display from July 18 – August 8, 2026.
New! Gallery 1: Water & Sky
An exploration of water, sky, and the shifting boundary between them—through reflection, atmosphere, and light. All forms of lens-based work are represented.
New! Gallery 2: Making Strange
Making Strange presents work that transforms the everyday—rendering familiar subjects as unfamiliar or charged with unexpected meaning.
Gallery 3: Pauline Kruger Hamilton: The End of an Era
A lost photographer returns: Pauline Kruger Hamilton at Praxis. Once a Minneapolis portrait painter, Hamilton went on to become one of the most sought-after portrait photographers in Europe, photographing cultural figures including Gustav Klimt. This exhibition reintroduces her work within its historical context.
Gallery 4: The Subtlety of Place
Carl Schulz’s The Subtlety of Place explores the quiet structures and atmospheres that define location through traditional photo-chemical processes, emphasizing nuance, light, and sustained observation.
Gallery Hours: Saturdays Noon–5PM and by appointment, during exhibition dates.
