Everything We Made Is a Love Story

We will celebrate 50 years of THE CIE (The Center for International Education) on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 from 6 - 8:30PM in the Elmer L. Andersen Library. Hazard will do a show and tellavision with motion pictures and paper movies at 7pm.

"Our micro-nonprofit created 200 videos and 40 artist books. The entire body of work has been collected by the University of Minnesota," says the filmmaker, photographer, and poet Mike Hazard. "Everything we made is a love story."

Special Collections and Rare Books is presenting "Media Mike and The Center for International Education," a pan media exhibition that will run from June 30 - August 28, 2026 in the Bell Gallery, Wallin Center, part of the Andersen Library. Gallery hours: M - F, 9AM-5PM. The library is located on the West Bank of the University of Minnesota campus at 222 21st Ave South, Minneapolis.

"Mike Hazard is James Agee with a pen and Walker Evans with a camera in one," notes the historian Dr. Bruce White.

"Carl Sandburg with a camera," says the poet Kevin O'Rourke.

"This morning I spent time with your book, We Come From the Flower. In a time of such nihilism, your open hearted way of seeing is a clear shaft of light in the darkness. I'm truly touched. Thank you," emails the photographer Alec Soth.

Gallery Hours:
Monday - Friday: 9AM - 5PM
