Looking Out | Paul Macharia
Artistry is proud to present Looking Out, a captivating solo exhibition by wildlife and landscape artist Paul Macharia, currently on view in the Confluence Gallery at the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge.
Known for realistic acrylic and watercolor paintings, Macharia draws inspiration from a youth spent in Kenya and the native wildlife encountered there. This new body of work turns a keen eye closer to home, celebrating the animals of Minnesota—creatures observed from windows, in local parks, and at the zoo. Through vivid depictions of movement and fleeting moments in nature, Looking Out invites viewers to experience the thrill of a safari while discovering the beauty of the wildlife just outside their door.
About the Artist:
Paul Macharia is a wildlife and landscape artist who expresses their creative vision through realistic acrylic and watercolor paintings as well as black and white ink drawings. Macharia’s inspiration comes from their youth in Kenya, native wildlife, and nature documentaries.
“I like to capture events and moments of movement in my artwork,” says Macharia. “Looking Out came from what I see from the nature around me as a resident of Minnesota. I enjoy capturing animals that I see outside my window, at the park, or zoo. My work previously focused primarily on animals from Africa and other countries around the world, but I was inspired to create these new paintings of Minnesota animals for this first solo exhibition at the Confluence Gallery!”
