Hopkins Center for the Arts is proud to present an art exhibition of paintings by Don Biehn.
Landscapes and urban scenes, tranquil as well as gritty, and people in their daily activity are represented in Don Biehn’s body of work. Attracted to more intimate spaces and common settings, he captures on canvas the calm or energy, the mood of the atmosphere, the season and the view in front of him.
Born February 22, 1942, in Beloit, Wisconsin, Don Biehn grew up in La Crosse along the eastern shores of the Mississippi River. He trained at Ringling College of Art in Sarasota, Florida. Following those studies, Don flourished as an independent commercial artist in Milwaukee, then San Francisco, before arriving in St. Paul in the mid-1970s. A gifted natural artist, his legacy is a significant library of plein air oil paintings, watercolors, and figure drawings, providing unique perspectives on places and people across his upper-Midwestern home and highlighting his travels across the U.S. and the world.
