An opening reception will be held on June 6, 6:00-8:00 pm at the Q.arma Building at 1224 Quincy Street NE with artwork on display from June 6-21.

Grounded in UW–Stout’s polytechnic approach, the artwork is created with hands-on making, conceptual rigor, and interdisciplinary thinking. The exhibition foregrounds the dynamic relationships between material processes, artistic orientations, visual languages, and the ever-changing viewer.

Fieldwork encompasses both a pedagogical framework and the diversity of practices within the Studio Art program, spanning painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, comics, photography, ceramics, and metals.

Fieldwork is organized on three levels: a curated display of artworks from intermediate and advanced studio art courses, an independently organized exhibition by UW-Stout’s student-run Fine Arts Association, and a series of pop-up presentations and sales by other UW-Stout student-run organizations, including the Print Club, Comix Club, Metals Guild, and more. Together, these distinct approaches to presentation emphasize the making, collaboration, and professional practices that shape contemporary artists. The exhibition emphasizes UW-Stout's commitment to preparing students for professional careers in the arts.
