Aragti Wadaag is a residency program by Soomaal House of Art designed to provide artists with a supportive environment to think, work, and develop their creative practices. The program aims to amplify artists' voices within the Somali community and create more equitable experiences for Somali-American artists in the greater arts community. The 2025-26 Aragti Wadaag residency program was part of a special collaboration with the Department of Art entitled Aragti Wadaag: A Framework for Arts Organization-University Collaboration, with generous support from the Liberal Arts Engagement Hub in the College of Liberal Arts. During the residency, artists worked with established artists as mentors to create new work and learn new ways to engage with the community through workshops, artist talks, and performances, culminating in a group exhibition at the Department of Art’s Quarter Gallery.
