Erik Saulitis joins Stephen A. Born and Nicole Houff for three unique explorations in “Body of Work” this October at Robbin Gallery.
Erik Saulitis finds there is nothing more finely engendered than the human body. Erik began as an engineer who found his way to fine art and human form. Erik believes there is great strength, power, beauty and grace in human form. He has been on a 30-year quest to capture it in a 2-dimensional art form. Erik’s images capture “things that are moving” is a very stable environment, “yet still they move.”
Nicole Houff is a Minneapolis-based photographer with a flair for fantasy, humor and hyper-staged reality. Her work unfolds in a perfect plastic world inhabited by a certain iconic doll, her eternally poised muse. Drawing from the ultra-stylized pop culture of the 1950’s and ‘60’s, Nicole’s photographs toe the line between satire and reverence, nostalgia and commentary.
Stephen Born is a photographer, sculptor, welder, neon artist, woodworker, furniture designer and poet. Stephen combines his love of photographing people with woodworking to render the human form in three-dimensional, wall-mounted wood sculptures. Making liberal use of negative space, Stephen offers a new perspective on the human body.
