Inspired by the artist's experience at Lake Michigan during the COVID-19 pandemic, "The Mercy of Events" serves as a large-scale portrait of one of the world's greatest bodies of fresh water. The exhibition features 90,000 watercolor circles meticulously assembled on graph paper using actual lake water for the paint to create a pointillist-style representation. By blending influences from Seurat’s pointillism and childhood standardized tests, the work explores the act of processing events through a playful subversion of visual order.
