2026 North Star Glass Exhibition: Glass Painting

Running September 4th through 20th, 2026 at the Flux Arts Building in Minneapolis, the exhibition celebrates both the longstanding traditions of painted glass and the ways contemporary artists continue to expand the medium. The exhibition features work selected through a juried process led by Jacob Honer and Steve Cowan, with Indre McCraw serving as Special Awards Judge.

Honer began his stained glass career in 1995 and is the founder of Honer Stained Glass as well as a Foreman at Gaytee Glass. His work encompasses restoration, conservation, and new fabrication, including work on historic churches, cathedrals, state capitol buildings, and landmark architectural sites. His studio has also undertaken conservation and restoration of works by artists including John La Farge and Louis Comfort Tiffany.

Cowan trained at John Hardman & Co. in the United Kingdom and co-founded Master Glass Artists Ltd. in 2009. He has created stained glass for churches and buildings around the world while providing specialized glass-painting expertise to other studios. He has also taught advanced glass-painting workshops for the SGAA and AGG and lectured on traditional painted-glass techniques.

McCraw is a glass painter and designer with more than two decades of experience in painted glass and conservation. A graduate of Parsons School of Design and former Kress Foundation Fellow at the St. Ann's stained glass conservation program, she has worked on projects associated with the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Cloisters, as well as historic and contemporary commissions. She currently serves as a Master Glass Painter at Judson Studios in Los Angeles.

The exhibition will open with a public reception on Friday, September 4, from 6:00-9:00 PM. As part of the opening evening, McCraw will present Walking into a Studio from 19 to Now!, a talk on her artistic practice and career in painted glass.
