Douglas Flanders & Associates is delighted to announce a winter exhibition, opening Saturday, December 6, 2025, and running through Saturday, January 29, 2026, at 5025 France Ave S, Minneapolis.
The exhibition features the highly anticipated return of acclaimed Minnesota painter Luke Hillestad alongside a festive holiday presentation celebrating art, history, and the magic of the season.
Luke Hillestad – The Graces
Luke Hillestad (b. 1982, New Ulm, MN) returns to Minneapolis with The Graces, his first solo exhibition in the city in nine years. Hillestad, who studied classical music and painting at the University of Minnesota and apprenticed with Norwegian painter Odd Nerdrum, draws on the traditions of Apelles, Titian, and Rembrandt to create mythological works that distill human drama into timeless images.
The Graces explores the ancient personifications of life’s joys: Aglaea (Splendor), Euphrosyne (Joy), and Thalia (Good Cheer). Through these paintings, Hillestad celebrates extraordinary beauty, bright spirits in dark times, and moments of grateful awe, using his family and friends as models to give these mythological figures a personal, contemporary resonance.
