An exhibition featuring works by Minnesotan artist Vladimir Dikarev
Created between 1985 and 2019, these paintings present a fascinating body of work that bridges continents and political regimes. Some of them were painted when the artist still lived in the Soviet Union. But the where and when are not so important in Dikarev’s work. The artist is intent on giving his interpretations of the world and its weird ways through symbols and metaphors, rather than creating a faithful reflection of surrounding reality. His works chart the artist’s exploration of the style that he calls poetic surrealism. Each of his works is a piece of poetry rendered in the surrealist idiom.
