An exhibition at 801 Gallery in Minneapolis, focusing on artwork which explores language both visually and/or conceptually. 

GALLERY OPENING
Saturday, October 9th, 2021 from 6-9 pm
Enjoy art, live music and complimentary wine, beverages and chocolate. Music by Mike Salovich & Mikkel, a turbo fusion of guitar and washboard. All art is for sale and the artists keep 100% of the profits.

Please join the artists on Sunday, December 12th from 3-5pm for the Artist Talk. Light refreshments will be served. Please wear a mask.


ARTISTS
Judith Yourman, exhibition co-curator, is a 2020 MN State Arts Board Visual Arts grant recipient. She has exhibited work internationally and is in permanent collections, including the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and the Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art. Yourman is the recipient of numerous grants and fellowships, including awards from the McKnight Foundation, the NEA and the Jerome Foundation. She will show a series of sculptures and ceramic wall drawings, inspired the early drawings of her daughters.

Julia Klatt Singer is a poet and painter. She has published four books of poetry, including, Untranslatable, North, Star Press, 2015, which is based on untranslatable words from other languages. She will be exhibiting paintings based on a set of untranslatable words, all centered around trees and birds and woodlands and their universal draw.

Katayoun Amjadi, is a 2020/21 MCAD-Jerome fellow. She has received numerous awards and residencies, including stays at the Benyamini Contemporary Ceramics Center, Tel Aviv, Israel and the Center of the Periphery, Morlitzwinden, Buch am Wald, Bavaria, Germany. She will present works from the S/WORD, which probes the power and efficacy of words and guns in a world consigned to both.

Laura Migliorino, is a recent Fulbright Fellow, currently photographing images from various international archives. She photographed rare books at the American Academy in Rome, and the private archives of the James Weldon Johnson Foundation. She is currently working on the GLBTQ Tretter Collection at The University of Minnesota, and has a Fulbright for 2022 to photograph Rosamond Johnson and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor at the British Library.


GALLERY HOURS

Artist hosted open gallery hours are Saturdays 12-4pm.
