UNEARTHED | Martha Bird - Randy Blase - Lily Peterson - Marvin Wise

ArT @ 967 Payne presents a group exhibition of evocative art objects "unearthed" and made from renewable and sustainable materials, and displayed against the backdrop of colorful abstract paintings.

This group exhibition brings together the uniquely individual yet complementary works of four artists:

  • Inspiring sculpted basketry by Martha Bird, skillfully constructed from willow branches and lemon grass, and inspired by traditional basket making techniques used by artisans in various parts of the world;
  • A fabulous collection of wearable textiles by Lily Peterson, patched together from reused and renewed pieces of fabric;
  • An assembly of sturdy yet playful pieces of ceramics by Randy Blase, hand-formed and cut from stoneware clay;
  • And a series of stunning paintings by Marvin Wise, carefully selected to complement the three-dimensional objects, and serving as a backdrop and unifying visual element for the entire exhibition.

Randy Blase, Martha Bird, and Lily Peterson will each be giving brief artist remarks, and provide additional insights into their work, between 6 and 7 pm, on the opening night (Feb 16).
