TREES : HOMAGE TO FOLIAGE
Groveland Gallery presents Trees : Homage to Foliage, a group exhibition.
From towering forest sentinels to intimate woodland paths, TREES: HOMAGE TO FOLIAGE celebrates the uplifting, life-sustaining, and elegant presence of trees. This exhibition explores the remarkable variety of forms, colors, and atmospheres found in landscapes throughout the changing seasons.
The featured artists transport viewers to quiet glens, sprawling woodlands, and luminous canopies where light filters through leaves and branches, revealing the enduring beauty and resilience of the natural world. Whether depicting the grandeur of ancient trees or the fleeting brilliance of autumn foliage, each artist offers a unique perspective on one of nature's most enduring subjects.
Exceptional works by Brock Larson, Max Steele, and Don Biehn give the exhibition roots. Larson's luminous landscapes celebrate the changing light and atmosphere of the Midwest, while Steele's expressive woodland scenes immerse viewers in richly layered forests filled with color and movement. Biehn's paintings capture the quiet rhythms of rural landscapes, inviting moments of contemplation and connection with the land.
As William Blake observed, "The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way . . . to the eyes of the man of imagination, nature is imagination itself." TREES: HOMAGE TO FOLIAGE invites viewers to see with that imagination; to appreciate the beauty, strength, and generosity of trees while reflecting on our shared responsibility to conserve these magnificent living monuments.
An opening reception for TREES: HOMAGE TO FOLIAGE will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 2:00–5:00 p.m. The exhibition will remain on view (Tuesday through Saturday, 12:00–5:00) through October 17, 2026.
