To Illuminate Abundance

TO ILLUMINATE ABUNDANCE is an exhibition from nine local, Black women & femme designers exploring what it means to live a life full of love, freedom, and light…beyond survival. Viewers are invited to experience and imagine themselves within these pieces, as they move through this expression of Black femme liberation.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Ashley Koudou is a multidimensional designer. Her work as an illustrator puts Black women at the center and takes a peek into their everyday lives, dreams, fantasies, and memories.

Kelsi Sharp is an African American artist from the American Southwest. Growing up along Route 66, her work is strongly influenced by the signage, gas stations, and other relics found on the historic highway.

Leeya Rose Jackson is a painter, art director, illustrator, and graphic designer from Detroit, Michigan, living in Minneapolis. Her work explores the intersections of identity, specifically Blackness, femininity, and queerness, with the added motifs of celestial/universal surrealism.

Marcia Rowe has a degree in Graphic Design and Sociology from Augsburg University. She creates because she believes it is the most impactful vessel of communication and representation.

Olivia Anizor is a designer, serial hobbyist, and Stevie Wonder fan girl. Inspired by bold colors and expressive type, Olivia enjoys playful exploration and champions curious creativity.

Olivia House is a graphic designer from the Twin Cities, living in Chicago. House focuses primarily on print design, branding, and exhibition design, with social impact being at the core of her practice.

Sabrina Peitz is a local designer of Minneapolis. In her daytime job, she works on everything from Target to Houston White, while her freelance work is almost solely based in the uplifting and celebrating of people of color. She sees design as a tool for influence, and wants to use her tools to celebrate culture and underrepresented communities.

Silent Fox is a graphic designer and visual artist from Minnesota. She created her own name in 2016 to identify with her arts work. The name 'Silent Fox' comes from her belief that silence allows one to reflect on today's world and creates a journey to discover meaning in life.

Terresa Moses is a proud Black queer woman dedicated to the liberation of Black and brown people through art and design. She is the Creative Director at Blackbird Revolt and an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design and the Director of Design Justice at the University of Minnesota.
