The exhibition highlights the history of banned book through the photographic lens.
In researching the history of banned books two groups are always targeted for erasure and hostility: African American and Queer literature. Toni Morrison is one of the most banned authors in the United States. Nazi Germany publicly burned books celebrating their tyranny and censorship. Luckily the Hennepin County Library mounted a Banned Book program, and the photographs are of books checked out of the Hennepin County Library.
