the bed beside me

Fresh Eye Gallery presents an exhibition curated by Drew Maude-Griffin.

This exhibition honors artists who create from bed—building worlds and crafting plans in their minds, or on the blank canvas of the bedroom ceiling. “I do everything from my bed, sometimes that’s my only option due to my disabilities. Some of my favorite pieces have come from being ‘stuck’ in bed,” Opening May 11th, Fresh Eye Gallery presents the bed beside me, an exhibition curated by Drew Maude-Griffin. This exhibition honors artists who create from bed—building worlds and crafting plans in their minds, or on the blank canvas of the bedroom ceiling. “I do everything from my bed, sometimes that’s my only option due to my disabilities. Some of my favorite pieces have come from being ‘stuck’ in bed,” Maude-Griffin asserts.

Maude-Griffin seeks to bridge the gap between private and public spaces and highlight the generative possibilities of working from bed with a diverse showing of work from local, out-of-state, and international artists. This exhibition includes paintings, drawings, documented performances, videos, collages, sculptures, textiles, and photography, created from or planned from bed.

Please join us at the opening reception next Friday, May 12th from 6 to 8 pm at Fresh Eye Gallery! In care of our community and those living with chronic or terminal illnesses, masks will be required and available during the opening reception.

Quality masks will be available throughout the length of the exhibition, and are encouraged but not required. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Drew at fresheyegallerympls@gmail.com
