Gallery 5004 presents an exhibition featuring work by Richard Sussman from 1933 to 1954.

Gallery 5004 invites you to experience this fascinating body of early  
work by acclaimed twentieth-century Minnesota artist Richard Sussman. This is a rare opportunity to view some never-before-seen early oils, watercolors and more, directly from the estate of esteemed teacher and artist.


Gallery Hours:
Saturdays, June 5, 12, 19 and 26 from Noon – 4:00 PM
Sundays, June 6, 13, 20 and 27 from Noon – 4:00 PM


About the Artist
Richard Sussman was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1908.  He studied at the Minneapolis School of Art with Cameron Booth and at the Art Students League in New York City with George Grosz and Hans Hoffman. 

 His watercolors and drawings are in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, San Francisco Museum of Art, Minneapolis Institute of Art, University of Minnesota, Tweed Museum of Art in Duluth, Walker Art Center, St. Olaf College, and Brandeis University. His work is also included in numerous private collections. 

Sussman taught at Macalester College, Minneapolis School of Art, University of Minnesota, and at the Wayzata Art Center.  He passed away in May 1971 in Minneapolis.
