MidModMen+friends is hosting a collection of Joel's artwork: original fine art drawings, prints, ceramics and more (snake puzzle anyone?).
The title, “The 45th Parallel Revisited: From MXP to MSP,” references Itman’s Twin Cities roots and long term residency in Milan, Italy – both on the globe’s 45th parallel.
Itman is an artist whose singular aesthetic is more than the sum of its parts. It’s fantastical. Mystical. Colorful yet able to pivot to a minimum of hues. Above all his art celebrates juxtapositions, most often ones from his own imagination.
His original art spans media, from colored pencil drawings and painted ceramic tiles to stained glass windows. He has shown his work in individual and group shows in Italy, France and the United States. His last Minnesota show was in 2016.
Itman also has adapted selected artwork to practical and decorative use in magnets, greeting cards, T-shirts and home décor. His modernist take on the Jewish calendar was an international hit multiple years in a row. These pieces can be found in museum gift shops and design-centric stores in Europe, the United States and Israel.
Meet the Artist
Itman’s artwork will be available for sale at MidModMen+friends, and the artist will be in the store June 30 and July 2 to meet customers and talk about his art, creative process and life abroad.
