Metro State University and the Gordon Parks Gallery are proud to present a new body of work by noted Twin Cities-based photographer Steve Ozone. Known for portraits that engage questions of social justice, Ozone turns his attention in this exhibition to places across the United States, drawing inspiration from the visual narratives of internationally renowned photographer Gordon Parks. Rather than recreate Parks’s photographs, Ozone takes up the spirit of his work: the belief that a photograph can invite viewers to look closely at the social conditions shaping American life. Ozone traveled throughout the country to make these new images, considering how a social justice perspective can inform both what a photographer sees and how a story is told.

Exhibition Information: The exhibit opens with a reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 8. The show will continue through November 12, 2026. Gallery hours are 1 to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday and Saturday 11am – 5pm. The gallery is located on the first floor of Metro State’s Library and Learning Center, 645 East Seventh Street, at the University’s Saint Paul Campus.
