Spectrums of Time | Alison Yager

Calendula Gallery presents Spectrums of Time, a solo exhibition by Alison Yager.

Alison Yager, a drawing and installation artist from Minnesota is inspired by the light spectrum, color, labor and time.  Her practice is dedicated to making space for long looking and contemplation.   She was awarded a Master’s Degree from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2023.

Alison is inspired by sublime experiences in nature, travel, and art. Spending time submerged in the endlessness of the stars on a clear night, experiencing the beauty of a new landscape on a long road trip, a lazy day at the ocean, or visiting artifacts of spirituality all influence the way she contemplates ideas of the self.  In these moments, she often contemplates her own insignificance and the serenity that can be found within it.

Alison strives to occupy this liminal space through her drawing and installation practice.  Repetition and persistence through time is integral to this practice. Allison sets limiting conditions on the work guiding the grid, scale or the limits of material to accumulate marks and color into an expanding field.
