In this exhibition, painter and illustrator Sara Witty explores dark esoteric subject matter, mapping the pictorial symbolism of the Tarot deck. The Tarot drawings are part of an ongoing project to illustrate all 78 cards of the Major and Minor Arcana.

Working on door-sized canvasses, Witty’s shadowy images of robots and still lifes tower above smaller, more intimate pen-and-ink drawings of ghostly figures, doll houses, and Tarot cards.

Analog collage artist Erik Farseth uses scissors and glue sticks to create fractured fairy tales and abstract designs out of thousands of tiny pieces of paper—cut apart, rearranged, and glued back together again—entirely by hand. (“Hive Mind,” for example, is assembled out of more than 612 pieces of paper).

These unearthly landscapes are populated by elder gods, high priestesses, cybernetic pollinators, shapeshifters, and living dolls.

  • On Friday, Nov. 7 there will be Tarot readings by Dovanna Cleary and on Saturday, Nov. there will be live music by Minneapolis post-hardcore band Battery Eyes.
