Solstice

With the coming of light this season, local artist Maureen Welter captures the hygge essence of the winter solstice with her new series of encaustic paintings on wood. Inspired by the northern surrounds and habitat of the Scandinavian countries, Welter’s latest collection of bucolic scenes and landscapes embraces the cozy charm of these collective lands.  Nestled candy colored houses, children frolicking on ice, fishermen out for a noonday catch, and reindeer on a winters promenade are but a sampling of images present in this exhibition that celebrates the warmth and serenity of the coming season.
