People Incorporated Mental Health Services is proud to announce the launch of an annual Artability initiative designed to elevate and celebrate the artistic voices within its community. Artability is one of People Incorporated’s flagship programs created to foster creativity and provides a platform for individuals to express themselves through art.

The new Sponsored Solo Showcase initiative reflects People Incorporated’s ongoing commitment to supporting individual artists not only in the creative process, but also in professional growth, public presence, and meaningful celebration of their work. As part of the program, Artability will sponsor one artist each year to present a solo showcase, expanding their professional opportunities while increasing visibility and recognition within the broader arts community.

People Incorporated is honored to inaugurate this program with a solo showcase by long-time Artability participant Jane Gerus. Her showcase, SkyScraping – artworks by Gerus, will be on view March 2 - 14, 2026, at Flux Arts in Northeast Minneapolis. The exhibit will highlight Gerus’ distinctive artistic voice while marking an exciting milestone for both the artist and the organization as the first presentation in this new annual series.

An Artist’s Reception with Jane Gerus will be held on Thursday, March 12, from 5 – 7 p.m. at Flux Arts. People Incorporated and Artability warmly invite participants, supporters, and community members to attend and celebrate Jane’s work and this important moment for the program. This event is free and open to the public.

Gerus describes herself as “a Spirit fueled acrylic painter and multi-media artist” who has been involved with People Incorporated’s Artability program for more than a decade. She continues to create work grounded in devotion, resilience, and the transformative power of art.

“We’re thrilled to expand Artability in a way that further supports community artists who heal through art and creative experiences,” says Tessa Weyhe, Artability Program Coordinator and lead teaching artist. “Jane is the ideal inaugural solo artist. Her extensive body of work reflects her deeply life-sustaining process of navigating mental health through artmaking. Her relationship with creativity perfectly embodies the spirit of Artability.”

Looking ahead, artists will be invited to submit applications for the opportunity to be selected as the annual featured solo artist. Future recipients will be announced each January along with the rollout of the year’s Artability workshop season. Details regarding eligibility requirements and the application process will be shared in future communications.

People Incorporated looks forward to growing this initiative in the years ahead and honoring many more artists through this new tradition.
