Short Film Premiere: "Elemental Body" by Sydney Swanson

Dance artist, photographer, and healing practitioner Sydney Swanson invites you to the much-anticipated premiere of her latest creation, "Elemental Body." showing at Rochester Art Center.

“Elemental Body” is a new site-specific dance film created by Sydney Swanson and inspired by her reconnection to the elements through the study of West African spiritual practices. This film was choreographed, performed, directed, and edited by Sydney, filmed by Bradey Swanson, and features a soundscape specifically created for this project by Joni Griffith. Attendees can expect a unique dance film experience that combines movement with a sense of grounding through visceral immersion in nature.

About the Artist

Sydney is a Rochester, MN based dance artist, photographer and healing practitioner whose current creative practice focuses on site-specific dance filmmaking. Sydney’s work juxtaposes her creative impetus with the sites she inhabits, combining largely improvisational movement with the energy of the space/nature, innovative editing, and unique framing to create unexpected dance film worlds.
