Script from Within

This collaborative art installation amplifies the voices of the women in our correctional facilities through their original handwritings, confronting viewers with the humanity behind an epidemic of mass incarceration of women. 

Marcia Haffmans has collaborated with women in MN county jails in an effort to highlight their humanity through their authentic handwritings incorporated into 3-D visual art. The rate of incarceration of women in our state has increased over 900% in the past three decades (national average is 700%).

Script from Within is on view Jan 10th thru Feb 28th, open daily 8 AM – 8 PM. Artist’s talk with reception to follow Thursday Feb 15th @ 6 PM, Room 123.
