Rituals of Regard and Recollection

The Gonzalez Hickey Collection is a significant collection of unique contemporary works on paper by over 400 early to mid-career contemporary artists from around the world. While the collection can largely be characterized as abstract, there are exceptions yielding to figuration and the narrative. Paper is the essential element of the collection.

Exhibition curator Tricia Heuring invites artist Isa Gagarin and curator Esther Callahan to join a conversational response to the premise for Rituals of Regard and Recollection. Together they will discuss possibilities for drawing as practice and record, deep looking as a personal method to experience art, and new understanding formed through the process of curating through a collection.
