ABOUT THE WORK:
Through mixed-media paintings and paper installations, Wendland explores the belief that trauma —when faced and reshaped—can become a source of resilience, strength, and even beauty. Her work portrays the intricacies of healing, shared through her personal experience of abuse and trauma. She invites the viewer to contemplate how beauty and wholeness can emerge from what was once broken.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Lyz Wendland is a visual artist living and working in the Twin Cities. She received her MFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and her BFA from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Wendland is an Associate Professor of Art & Design at Augsburg University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
