Indeed Brewing Company is leaning into the celebration of Dry January with a FREE sobriety-themed art and live music series, occurring each of the first four Fridays of the month from 7-11pm in the Ox taproom.
The “Pink Cloud” event series highlights local artist Ben Hering, whose playful, yet bold visual art, made up entirely of recycled materials, will adorn the walls of the Ox for all of January. This installation focuses on themes of the past, ancestry and nostalgia – what Hering likes to call the “sting of memory.”
Two other sober artists, of different mediums, will also be joining in on these weekly celebrations. Hering’s wife, Kelly, described by him as “a proudly sober and incredibly talented writer,” is contributing short form pieces on sobriety to accompany his artwork. Dave Power, local drummer and close friend to Hering, will bring in a different band on each night of the series spanning a variety of genres – from live acoustic jazz to down-tempo electronic music.
Marigold, Minnesota’s first non-alcoholic bottle shop, will offer a pop-up installation as well, adding to Indeed’s NA drink selection for the evening.
Hering, who has been sober for several years, is using this series as an opportunity to celebrate the positive impact sobriety has had on his life and the lives of others, “The idea around the Pink Cloud show is to center sobriety in a way that is more of a celebration – a joyful experience, even with all of its complexities,” he said. The event title, “Pink Cloud,” captures the initial clarity and excitement that comes with being newly sober, when “everything seems to have a rose-colored tint,” according to Hering.
Along with themed programming, Indeed is giving out NA punch cards in the Minneapolis taproom for Dry January. Buy 6 NA craft beverages, including THC drinks, get the 7th free, all month long.
