A group show with a focus on sci-fi and fantasy, featuring artists Brandon Chambers, Madeline Cochran, Moriah Hannemann, Alison Hiltner, Matthew King, Areca Roe, Sam Steine, and Vernon Vanderwood, and curated by Sage Phillips.
Taking inspiration from various works of fiction--from Ursula K. Lee Guin to Annihilation (2018)--OTHERWORLD explores depictions of the natural world through the lens of science fiction and fantasy–and how, despite perceptions of genre fiction’s escapist qualities, they are powerful tools to exhaustively explore speculative ecological futures, reckon with the current state of our environment within the contemporary era, and emphasize the ways our very humanity is indelibly connected to the landscapes we exist within.
