An opening night reception 6–8 PM on Saturday, March 21, 2026, celebrates the debut of two new exhibitions at Praxis Gallery & Photographic Arts Center.
The opening reception is free and open to the public. Guests are invited to mingle with artists and fellow photography enthusiasts while exploring 4 galleries of contemporary photographic art and enjoying complimentary refreshments. 21 Minnesota artists are featured in group shows, along with artists from 20 other states and 9 foreign countries.
New! Gallery 1: DIPTYCH
Diptychs bring two images into conversation. Presented side-by-side, photographs form relationships that expand meaning through contrast, repetition, narrative, or visual rhyme. This exhibition invites artists to explore how paired images create connections — revealing shifts in time, perspective, scale, or emotion that emerge through the act of juxtaposition.
New! Gallery 2: SYMBOLS, NUMBERS, LETTERS
Symbols, numbers, and letters shape how we read the world. This exhibition explores the visual presence of language within photographic images — from typography and signage to handwritten marks, coded forms, and symbolic gestures. The photographs examine how meaning emerges when written language intersects with the visual field, revealing moments where words become images and images become a kind of language.
On View: Gallery 4: The Chemistry Gallery
The Chemistry Gallery presents The Subtlety of Place by Carl Schultz, exploring the intersection of nature and abstraction through photographic images that reflect the quiet complexity of the landscape. The gallery is dedicated to analog and photochemical processes created through historic and contemporary darkroom techniques.
Gallery Hours:
Saturdays Noon–5PM and by appointment, during exhibition dates.
