New Exhibitions at Praxis

An opening night reception from 6–8PM on August 22, 2026, celebrates the debut of two new exhibitions at Praxis Gallery & Photographic Arts Center in the Seward neighborhood of Minneapolis.

This event is free and open to the public. Guests are invited to mingle with artists and fellow photography enthusiasts while exploring four galleries of contemporary photographic art and enjoying complimentary refreshments. Twenty Minnesota artists are featured in group shows, along with artists from 19 other states and 7 foreign countries.

The exhibitions will be on display from August 22 – September 12, 2026.

New! Gallery 1: THE SHADOW ASPECT

The Shadow Aspect explores the formal, conceptual, and metaphoric implications of the shadow. Featured works examine shadow as visual form through line, shape, pattern, and texture, while also engaging themes of ambiguity, perception, foreboding, memory, and the unconscious.

New! Gallery 2: MOTION BLUR

Motion Blur explores the visual and conceptual potential of movement within the photographic image. Through velocity, gesture, distortion, and the passage of time, participating artists reveal motion not as interruption, but as presence—an imprint of time unfolding within the still image.

Gallery 3: ROMANCE • MURDER • ROYALTY • WAR: PHOTOGRAPHS BY PAULINE KRUGER HAMILTON

A solo exhibition of photographs by Pauline Kruger Hamilton examining themes of transition, memory, and the passage of time through a deeply personal body of work.

Gallery 4: THE SUBTLETY OF PLACE: ANALOGUE SILVER PRINTS BY CARL SCHULZE

A solo exhibition of analogue silver prints by Carl Schulze exploring the quiet character of landscape and place through traditional photographic processes.
