Neighboring is a group exhibition featuring Minnesota artists whose work reflects on what it means to live in relation to one another—both within familiarity and beyond it. At once intimate and expansive, the exhibition considers community not as a fixed condition, but as an ongoing practice shaped by attention, generosity, and shared responsibility.
Bringing together an eclectic range of media—including drawing, painting, fiber art, textiles, Native American artworks, ceramics, and more — Neighboring highlights the richness of difference that defines Minnesota’s creative landscape. The works on view move between the personal and the collective, exploring how identity, place, and material culture intersect in everyday life.
In the wake of recent disruptions across the Twin Cities, Neighboring takes on added resonance. Without centering any single event, the exhibition reflects a broader truth: that communities are revealed — and often strengthened — through moments of strain. Across the works, care emerges not as abstraction, but as action — expressed in small gestures, sustained over time, and extended to both those we know and those we do not.
Artists featured in the exhibition include David Amdur, Todd Clercx, George J Farrah, Lisa Larson, Mary Lingen, Bernie McNally, Monkeybiz and many more!
In the spirit of this exhibition, we are continuing to accept monetary donations in support of Be Good MN (#begoodmn), an initiative focused on community care and mutual aid. Contributions can be made directly via Venmo at @Michelle-Connealy.
Neighboring reflects a shared awareness of what’s happening around us — and how we move forward together.
