Medicine Kin | Ian Hanesworth

Silverlake Park presents Ian Hanesworth's "Medicine Kin"

This exhibition of printed textiles depicting wild medicinal plants engages concepts of ecological entanglement and more-than-human kinship through a focus on herbal medicine, a discipline which considers the well-being of our bodies in a way that is directly tied to the greater ecological community.

Ian Hanesworth (they/them) is a queer artist/farmer currently living and working in Winona, MN (occupied Dakota land).

Their multidisciplinary work centers on ideas of deep ecology, plant medicine, and environmental stewardship.

They received a BFA in Fine Arts Studio from the Minneapolis College of Art & Design in 2018. Since graduating they have participated in residency programs such as Caldera AiR in Sisters, OR, and exhibited their work in numerous group and solo exhibitions. They have received grants such as the 2019/20 Jerome Emerging Fiber Artist Project Grant, CERF+ Get Ready Grant, and the 2020/21 Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant.
