McKnight Fellowship Exhibition: Josh Winkler and Gaylord Schanilec

Highpoint Printmaking presents an exhibition of work by McKnight Printmaking Fellowships Josh Winkler and Gaylord Schanilec

Since February 2021, McKnight Printmaking Fellows Josh Winkler and Gaylord Schanilec have been busily translating ideas into prints for this exhibition. Despite never having met prior to this fellowship, their work is remarkably congruous. Each artist is an admirer and advocate of the natural world, with a particular appreciation for trees. Not only do trees often inform the content of their work, both artists have historically used wood as their printing matrix of choice; woodcut for Josh and wood engraving for Gaylord.

There will be a free public conversation on February 11, from 7-8:00p.m. with the two artists, featuring local author and naturalist Kim Todd. Please email josh@highpointprintmaking.org to RSVP – attendance will be limited to 30, with places reserved on a first come, first serve basis. For those unable to attend in person, the event will be live streamed via Zoom (link available on Highpoint website), as well as recorded.
