Lousy Lovers: A studio visit with Amelia, Stevie, Lindsey and Mick
Rosalux Gallery presents Lousy Lovers: A studio visit with Amelia, Stevie, Lindsey and Mick .
Lousy Lovers is a tongue in cheek exploration of the Bermuda love triangle existing below the force of the band Fleetwood Mac in the 1970’s. Our heroine Stevie Nicks had a plethora of famous musical lovers, but the infighting and button-pushing during the recording of Rumours released in the late 1970’s particularly sparks my creativity. Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks were on the ins and outs, and then Mick Fleetwood joined the party. Rumours, which became the twelfth best selling album of all time was fueled by insufferable heartache.
In my unique way of capturing visual, often mythical transformations in my works, Stevie spins, her layered dress fluttering and swirling as she hangs upside down as a bat from a tree limb. I have always been obsessed with her clothes and boots and the witchy spinning. Lindsey rises sturdily from his favorite cowboy boots, his legs twisting into tree trunks, but then extends a gnarled hybrid hand. Mick, also becomes a sort of a wooden talisman, still drumming in the dark forest of their relationships.
Some of these works and ideas are still in progress and will continue to develop and transform. There are plenty of other lovers to invite to this rehearsal in the woods.
