Jessie Fisher and Scott Seebart | FROM A FLOWER TO A GARDEN

Jessie Fisher and Scott Seebart | FROM A FLOWER TO A GARDEN

ArT@967 Payne presents a two-person exhibition of recent oil paintings by Jessie Fisher and Scott Seebart, co-directors of Case|Edgerton Studios in St. Paul’s Payne-Phalen neighborhood.

Fisher’s panel paintings of her partner, their son, a favorite model and herself are shown along with a series of still lifes featuring costumed sculptures that blur distinctions between inanimate and animate form while fabric, flesh, stone, porcelain and plastic are hewn of the same sentience. The translucency of Fisher’s work is magnified when set against Seebart’s dense, almost woven brushwork on rough linen supports. Seebart delights us with his lush collections of everyday objects staged within the fictional world of the tabletop. Clear affinities between these artists who have painted together for more than 30 years emerge when viewing the exhibition. Rooted in observation, both artists are steeped in the theatrical and bound to the personal, diverging in terms of arrangement, allegory and sensation. An opening reception will be held on Thursday August 18th from 5-8pm with live music by guest DJ Valentine Seebart.

Gallery Hours:
