Intercessions: Experiments in Venice and Rome

Intercessions: Experiments in Venice and Rome is the work of Twin Cities painter Jil Evans, who has developed a photography practice for travel, capturing shadows in her sketchbook. Installed in specific sequences, they create narratives that evoke place as ominously mysterious and sometimes iconic.  Evans is interested in the metamorphosis that takes place between the source of the shadow, the image the shadow suggests, and the associations the viewer experiences in looking into the worlds on the page.
