With generous support from the Mark and Mary Goff Fiterman Fund, the Friends of the Institute present Wing Young Huie and “How Are We Formed By Photographs?”.
Celebrated photographer, Duluth-born Wing Young Huie, has captured the complex cultural realities of American society for over 40 years. His projects have been exhibited in museums nationally and internationally, but his best-known works, Lake Street USA and the University Avenue Project, were large-scale public art projects that transformed Minneapolis and Saint Paul thoroughfares into six-mile community galleries, reflecting the everyday lives of its citizens.
Wing will discuss his practice, and how he uses his photography to explore the question: How are we formed by photographs?
