The Fifth Annual Book Arts Exhibition opens this Saturday, April 18th at 5:00 PM at its new location, Open Book in downtown Minneapolis. Curated by esteemed Twin Cities book artist Erin Maurelli alongside gallerist Heather Friedli, the exhibition showcases a dynamic array of innovative, book-based artworks.

Bringing together a wide range of contemporary artists, the exhibition highlights the book as a powerful and evolving medium for artistic expression. This year’s submissions span fine press, zines, ephemera, sculptural book works, and more. Each piece reimagines the traditional form of the book, offering fresh perspectives on narrative, material, and structure.

The exhibition aims to expand visibility for the book arts community by connecting emerging and established artists with new audiences. Visitors are invited into an immersive experience that challenges conventional ideas of the book, presenting it as both an art object and a vessel for storytelling.

Collectors and art enthusiasts will also have the opportunity to discover one-of-a-kind works that push the boundaries of book arts and contribute to an ongoing creative dialogue about the form.
