FEET IN THE GRASS | Group Exhibition

FEET IN THE GRASS is a portal into pastoral memory. We invite you to witness Lake Superior’s shimmering shores, lush Midwestern forests and meadows, bustling farmers' markets and gardens.

Featuring a variety of oils, etched acrylics, intimate studies, expansive works and more, FEET IN THE GRASS reflects the colors, atmosphere, and the grounding effect of putting your “feet in the grass” on a summer day. Exceptional work highlights include Katherine Steichen Rosing and Richard Abraham. 

Steichen Rosing’s etched acrylic paintings radiate with jewel-toned color and expressive energy, transforming familiar landscapes into vibrant, dreamlike compositions. Her distinctive linework and layered patterns evoke movement and texture, creating surfaces that shimmer with life and light.

Abraham’s landscapes draw upon his background in animation, infusing each scene with a sense of movement and spontaneity. Abraham captures the quiet beauty of natural spaces, whether painting along Minnesota’s North Shore or in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. His works invite viewers into verdant greenery, open skies, and tranquil reflection.

An opening reception for FEET IN THE GRASS will be held on Saturday, July 11th, 2026, from 2:00-5:00 p.m. The exhibition will remain on view (Tuesday through Saturday, 12:00-5:00) until August 22nd, 2026.

FEET IN THE GRASS compliments Groveland Gallery’s ANNUAL PLEIN AIR SMACKDOWN, July 25th, 2026. Participating artists spend the day painting scenes throughout Groveland Gallery’s neighborhood before returning to exhibit their freshly completed works. 

Groveland Gallery is just up the hill from the Walker Art Center at 25 Groveland Terrace, with easy off-street parking, additional street parking free on weekends, and a short walk from the Walker’s cozy underground parking ramp.
