Erik Olson | Nature Interrupted

Erik Olson | Nature Interrupted

Artistry and the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge is pleased to announce ‘Nature Interrupted’ a solo art exhibition featuring the work of artist Erik Olson.

The exhibition will take place in the Confluence Gallery at the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge.

“Olson’s work is beautifully direct in its environmental justice message.” states Samael Leopold-Sullivan, Interim Gallery Coordinator. “This exhibition is a testament to the possibilities for change towards a more ecologically integrated way of living.”

About the Exhibit:

In Nature Interrupted, Erik uses quilted plastic waste to examine the effects of consumerism, mass consumption and unfettered capitalism on our water ways, wildlife and wilderness areas. By layering climate change and environmental justice messages, his art emphasizes our alienation from the planet and each other, our willingness to waste, and our subsequent need for healing. By minimizing his carbon footprint in the creation of pieces and transcending the medium without denying what it is, Erik creates art that embodies Marshall McLuhan’s concept that “the medium is the message.”

Confluence Gallery Hours:

Thursday - Sunday, 10am - 4pm,

Closed on Federal Holidays

Due to Covid-19, masks are encouraged. The reception and artist talks are FREE and open to all.
