Eldrich

Rogue Buddha Gallery presents an exhibition of collaborative paintings Adam Marx, Jonny Kelson and Matt Franzen

The Eldrich exhibition is the culmination of collaborative paintings by Adam Marx, Jonny Kelson and Matt Franzen.

The idea started as an experiment and an excuse to get together weekly as friends, soon to be colleagues, and ostensible visionaries of works that neither one individual artist could control or command.

While the intent was clear, the meaning of each painting was surrendered and almost never discussed, and the idea of creating any rules to be followed was quickly vetoed.

The three did not physically work on pieces together but rather loosely discussed them and exchanged them at the end of the night.

The Wednesday night meetings would take place at one of their studios, sometimes chosen randomly, other times for specific reasons. The paintings were often secondary to the comradery that had developed. The work got better as their relationships grew over the course of four years.

Right away, it seemed important to document every stage of each paintings development. The result is the corresponding slide show that exposes the process of their unspoken, like-minded vision.
