For her August exhibit at Rosalux Gallery, “Drawing with Scissors”, Eleanor McGough explores the interconnectedness of life through patterns in nature.
With a mix of installation, paper cutting and painting, the work all shares a foundational process of inventing forms by drawing with scissors.
Paper cutting with scissors has become McGough’s primary form of drawing over the last decade. Along with her continued emphasis on the narratives of vanishing landscapes, climate change and the critical role of insects in our ecosystem, this exhibit also takes a step into the world of the artist’s process.
Using her paper cut outs as final finished works as well as stencils in the painting process, the exhibit is layered with scissor-cut forms that intermingle and echo in engaging ways.
